New Job

Did I mention I got a new job?  I have been moping around the past two months with "nothing to do." That all changes this week.

I will be working weekends (Fri - Sun) in San Clemente, CA.  I get every 7th Sat-Sun off.  And I get paid more to work on the weekend.  I also have the opportunity to pick up shifts during the week.  This means we will be staying in SoCal for an undefined amount of time.  I will have 3-4 days off during the week to play and explore and every other month or so, I will get 6 days off in a row. I am excited because The Best Man and I will still be able to explore, but will be forced to stay put and save up money to one day buy a home.

One of the things I am most excited about is getting a bigger apartment with our own furniture.  I haven't had my own furniture since leaving Greenville, SC in 2010.  I am excited to get a few nice pieces and a few fixer-uppers.  Something else to be excited about is the weather. It can get cold at night (think 30's), but really it's not that bad while the sun is up.  I can't wait to experience summer here this year!

A special shout out to The Crazy Cat Lady for giving me a stellar reference! You are greatly appreciated!

North Carolina

Phew, that flew by! I'm already done with my four weeks of working here in North Carolina. I now have the next three weeks to attempt to relax while living here. Most of this time will be spent catching up on wedding planning (flowers, photos, music, all the big stuff) and scrapbooking. I'm finishing throwing together my high school scrap book. I'm almost done and then it's on to making a "VCU" book as well as a "Greenville" book before making a vacation book and then finally a "traveling PT" book. I also have scarves to finish and earrings to make. Lots and lots of busy work.

My crazy cat lady former CI and her husband came to visit this past weekend. We had some tasty food and some relaxing times on the beach, as well as good conversation. Can't beat that! Later this week, some old friends will be coming for a visit, then early next week we are back to VA for an doctors appointment and then family time in Richmond and Arlington prior to heading to MD for the first VT football game of the season on Labor Day. Then, its back down here for a few days until more visitors arrive. Then we will be packing everything up and heading back to VA to live.

Don't ask me where. Don't ask me how long. I have no clue. Details to follow as they are made known to me. At this point I'm busy with phone interviews and dreaming up honeymoon plans! :)

The itinerary

FINALLY got an itinerary put together for me for my first on-site interview.

Tuesday, 15
Fly. Arrive in Greenville around 8 PM. Pick up rental car. Plan to eat out??

Wed, 16
Interview. Check out town (ie. run, shop, eat). Fly back home.

I'm glad that it's all official and I had to do next to no planning (except for hounding HR persons).

Also. . .
I got a call from Charleston, SC! This was the original "dream." So, I'm ecstatic about this waterfront town! I now have a phone interview lined up for the same day I have the interview for Charlotte.

It's all starting to fall into place. Now I just need to practice not blushing and stuttering. This week has been extremely trying on my family, so this has been a positive outlet for me- well, that and going to the gym!

The light at the end of the tunnel

With graduation fast approaching, I've decided to begin blogging on the events leading up to and following what I like to call "the start of my life." So, with one phase of my life coming to a close and another on the horizon, I'm ditching the ol' LJ for a clean (and more mature) slate.

I wasn't going to start blogging until I actually moved, but a few things prompted a sooner start. First, I figured why wait when I'm making decisions now that will lead me to "my new start." Second, while hiking yesterday, I met an AT hiker named Faithful. Looking at his blog jogged my interest in starting my own (as well as wanting to hike the whole AT!).

I will begin posting on the job hunt soon.
