Charlotte, NC

They say Greenville, SC is "close to everything and next to nothing." The Best Man and I have been seeing a lot of the "nothing," so we ventured up to a close by "everything" which happened to be Charlotte, NC.

We saw a Ben Folds concert on Friday night, which was a perfect way to start off our laid back weekend. Hysterical! Chatroulette is the way concerts are heading. At least I hope so.

The two of us spent the rest of the weekend wandering around, eating, drinking, seeing. Normally, I feel the need to plan every minute of time in a new city. Besides the concert, the only other plan we had was getting margaritas at Cabo Fish Taco. The rest of the time we poked into art galleries, boutiques and bars.

It was so nice to have a slow pace without plans. I may have to change the way I vacation! Perfect trip. Now, unfortunately, back to reality!

"Oh, Please Fate stay with me, and guide me along my way"

After my onsite interview in Greenville I got a call from Charlotte saying that the position I was interested in had already been filled. I saw this as a sign, to help me decide that yes, I did want to be in Greenville.

Last night, my voice mail became so full that it would no longer take new messages and I finally broke down and deleted new messages (Mom, Mom, and Mom) and old ones that no longer mattered (Recruiter, recruiter, recruiter). One of the new messages was from the recruiter from Charlotte. She said that the position was now open again and was I interested? I think the fact that the position was "filled" long enough for me to make my decision to go w/ Greenville, just shows Someone had a helping hand in this. Personally, I would have taken ages to decide on my own which place was the one for me...and then I would have come to the same conclusion, but with a lot more hassle.

Amen.

In other news: I'm having a blast shopping online at Target! I've made a wish list for my birthday/graduation- so, buy me pretty things already!

The questions

I had my phone interview w/ Charlotte this morning. It went really well. I spoke to one of the directors for an hour. She painted me a very through picture of their facility and how they run things down there. This position would be a huge challenge for me, but I'd learn TONS and TONS!

Just got off the phone from the second interview, Charleston. I only got to speak to the HR rep for 15 minutes. She told me the base salary. Sounds pretty cut and dry. A director will call me back this afternoon. I hope to get more information from her.

Man, interviewing makes my armpits sweat! Time to reapply deodorant and sit around waiting for round two of this interview!

Update: directors are much easier to talk to than HR staff! The Best Man says this is because my personality is closer to the director staff than an HR person. BUT, she did tell me that they are interviewing several people, which I didn't need to hear :-P

The (current) options

I have already had a mini phone interview for a place in Greenville, SC. I will be flying down in a few weeks for an "on-site interview." I have another phone interview lined up for a company in Charlotte, NC. I need to continue researching these two companies and areas, as well as looking up other opportunities. I am excited about seeing these places and meeting new people. Nerves are starting to set in regarding making a final decision- or should I say "my first decision?"
