Dreaming of Aloha

I'm starting to scheme up ideas for my 30th birthday trip + 2nd anniversary trip. Doesn't everyone go on a trip for their 30th?  Isn't that a thing? If not, it most definitely should be and would someone please tell The Best Man it's a thing?

I haven't decided if it was a good idea or a bad idea to get married two weeks after my birthday. Now for the rest of my life I will be trying to convince The Best Man that these are two separate holidays and need two sets of presents and/or trips.  Hmm, sounds materialistic.  Oh well.

So, I want to go to Hawaii. I should have some time off by May. I get every 7th weekend off, but still have to work every Friday. I'm hoping I can use some PTO (I don't start accruing PTO for another two weeks) and take a 8-9 day vacation.

Now the trouble is to first get the time off, then to have the money for this trip. We have started saving, but other things have come up to ruin the fun. I broke my implant (tooth) while comping on some popcorn. If you've never seen me eat popcorn, please, lets keep it that way.  It's not a pretty sight. Another problem is that I have to stop spending money in other places in order to have the funds for this trip. Hawaii seems like a good motivating factor, but I need new bathing suits and sun dresses...and sunglasses...

This is my weekend

It has been hard adjusting to working on the weekend. Mainly because everyone else in the world seems to work 9-5 Monday through Friday.  The Best Man and I have gotten into the bad habit of translating my work days into the corresponding day for the rest of you.  So when I have just finished my 2nd day of work and have two more days to go, that's my Wednesday even though it's Friday. When I finish my last of 4 days of work, that's my Friday even though it's Sunday.

This gets quiet confusing when I have appointments and things to do during the week. I may be calling it Wednesday, but it's really Friday and that means I have Fun Friday at yoga.  I'm getting confused just thinking about it.

I'm trying to get out of the habit of making my work fit around everyone else's schedule and lingo. I'm trying to get The Best Man to do the same. The hard thing is waking up on Friday morning to see all the TGIF posts on the web and knowing I have to get through a few more days until "my weekend." But, on the other hand, it's also nice to finish work on Sunday and read the web to see everyone is dreading going back to work.

Yesterday I spent the day lounging in the sun overlooking the beach, shopping online and drinking champagne brought to me by my waiter...I mean The Best Man. I also did a quick work out that I found on Pinterest from The Today Show.

Today, it's dreary again, so I'm glad I got some sun yesterday (though it was too much sun and now I'm itchy and red).

More Shoes

I really want to buy a house.

So I can buy more shoes.

I only have 11 pairs.

Charlotte, NC

They say Greenville, SC is "close to everything and next to nothing." The Best Man and I have been seeing a lot of the "nothing," so we ventured up to a close by "everything" which happened to be Charlotte, NC.

We saw a Ben Folds concert on Friday night, which was a perfect way to start off our laid back weekend. Hysterical! Chatroulette is the way concerts are heading. At least I hope so.

The two of us spent the rest of the weekend wandering around, eating, drinking, seeing. Normally, I feel the need to plan every minute of time in a new city. Besides the concert, the only other plan we had was getting margaritas at Cabo Fish Taco. The rest of the time we poked into art galleries, boutiques and bars.

It was so nice to have a slow pace without plans. I may have to change the way I vacation! Perfect trip. Now, unfortunately, back to reality!

So Fresh

A Fresh Market virgin no more. I was like a kid in a candy shop tonight as I strolled around the isles in the open, maze-of-a-store. The variety of prepared, fresh and packaged foods was slightly overwhelming. They had every holiday food of which you could dream. I picked up mulling spices on my way in on my way to find a bottle of wine and half gallon of milk. I think it's quiet tricky how the aisles are all caddy corner to one another so you have to pass several other tasty items before coming to what you need. However, I only ended up with two more items that I intended...which 2x what I went in for, but I won't think about it like that. I was shocked when the total for my items came up to $13. I had always assumed The Fresh Market was more expensive than other places. Granted I did see things like fancy salsa for 6 dollars or fresh peanut butter for $5 to $8. But, to just run in and grab a couple things it was relatively inexpensive. I think I'm a fan.
